Product Introduction Technical Parameter Size

Arc Flash Protection Relay Product Introduction:

The GWZC-9605 Arc Flash Protection Relay delivers high-speed arc flash mitigation with optical and current-based fault detection. It integrates advanced algorithms for accurate fault discrimination and reduces equipment damage through sub-5ms tripping. Designed for harsh environments, it ensures grid reliability with configurable logic and real-time monitoring capabilities.

Arc Flash Protection Relay Technical Features:

1. 32-bit DSP processor with 16MB flash memory for high-speed data processing and event logging.
2. Multi-parameter measurement: Arc light intensity (0-200k Lux), current (0-10A AC), and power quality metrics.
3. 4 digital inputs/2 relay outputs supporting NO/NC configurations and trip circuit supervision.
4. Programmable protection logic with user-defined curves for overcurrent and arc energy accumulation.
5. Self-checking operation circuit with continuous health monitoring and fail-safe design.
6. IRIG-B time synchronization for precise event timestamping and sequence-of-events (SOE) recording.
7. TV anti-maloperation against transient disturbances and false triggering.
8. Dual communication ports: RS485 and Ethernet (optional) with IEC61850 protocol support.
9. Fault recording with 128 oscillography cycles and pre-trigger data capture.
10. Low power consumption (<5W) and wide power supply range (85-265V AC/DC).
11. EMC immunity Level IV per IEC 61000-4, ensuring reliability in noisy environments.
12. Operating temperature -40°C to +85°C for extreme industrial conditions.

Principle and Composition of Arc Flash Protection Relay

Arc flash protection systems adopt dual criteria of arc light detection and overcurrent detection to enhance operational reliability and selectivity.

Operation Logic:

  • Trip: A trip command is issued only when both arc light signals and current increments are detected simultaneously by the protection device.
  • Alarm: If only arc light or only a current increment is detected, the device issues an alarm signal without tripping.

System Composition:

  • Main Control Unit: The “brain” of the system, responsible for receiving and processing signals from various units, making trip or alarm decisions, and displaying fault locations.
  • Arc Light Sensor: Installed in key areas such as busbar compartments and circuit breaker compartments of switchgear to detect intense arc light generated during faults and convert it into electrical signals. Mostly passive devices, connected via fiber optics to the main unit or acquisition unit.
  • Current Unit (Acquisition Unit): Used to detect current in the power supply circuit and provide overcurrent blocking signals.
  • Auxiliary Unit (Optional): Used to expand the number of connectable arc light probes.
  • Connection Medium: Fiber optics and data cables are typically used to connect system units, improving electromagnetic interference immunity and transmission speed.

Renovation Scheme for Unattended Automatic System of Hydropower Station
The core of the transformation of the unattended automation system for hydropower stations is to upgrade the traditional manually attended power station into a modern intelligent power station with "unattended operation and minimal personnel on duty" through computerized monitoring, intelligent sensing, reliable communication and remote centralized control. It realizes remote monitoring, automatic control, fault self-diagnosis and safety early warning, greatly reducing labor costs and improving operational efficiency and safety. Among them, the secondary electrical system, as the "nervous system, brain and safety line of defense" of the power station, is the core support for the unattended transformation. Without a reliable secondary system, true unattended operation cannot be achieved. Therefore, this integration will focus on improving the detailed content of secondary electrical equipment while retaining the full process details of the transformation.

Ground Distance Protection (21G)
Differences Between Phase-to-Phase Distance Protection (21P) and Ground Distance Protection (21G)
The core difference between phase-to-phase distance protection and ground distance protection lies in the selection of measured quantities, fault response range, and connection methods. They complement each other to form a complete distance protection system for high-voltage transmission lines, both following the basic principle: operation if the measured impedance is less than the setting impedance.
